Losing weight when stressed is difficult to say the least. Even when life is not particularly complicated, it can still be quite difficult to drop pounds. However, many people find that stressful periods in life cause even more weight gain, because they tend to eat too much when they feel stressed out. When they are less anxious, they tend to eat well, making weight loss much easier during good periods.
Avoiding emotional eating takes some intentional effort on each individual’s part, especially if you tend to eat when stressed out. Some people learn that they even eat too much when they are feeling joy. This is simply another type of emotional eating. Call it happy emotional eating, if you like. It still is considered emotional eating. The key is to consider what you are eating and why each time you eat. Ask yourself if you are truly hungry. If you are not, there is no need to eat any additional food.
Post pregnancy weight loss can be especially challenging. However, if you breastfeed, you can lose weight more rapidly than if you do not nurse, so do consider nursing your child for many reasons, including your child’s health and your own quicker weight loss. Do not resume working out again until your doctor says it’s okay, because you don’t want to injure yourself, especially if you had a C-section. Consume healthy food, drink plenty of water and get lots of rest, both for your own sake and the sake of your infant.
